What this set actually is
A dedicated table solves a smaller problem than an automatic one, but it solves it for a lot less: a square surface the right size, a lip around the edge, and somewhere for each player to keep their things. Groups that have been playing on a dining table with a mat usually find the difference bigger than expected.
Thirty-four inches is the standard; thirty-six gives room for larger tiles and for pushers. Most fold on the legs and stand upright in a cupboard.
The surface matters. A felt or rubber top does the same job as a mat; a bare laminate top does not, and you will want a mat on it anyway.
What sets it apart
- Raised edge keeps tiles on the table and lets you push walls without overshooting
- A drawer per player for sticks, chips, phones and drinks
- Folds flat and stands against a wall — no storage problem
Who should buy it
Anyone who plays at home and is tired of borrowing the dining table.
